Your brain weighs about as much as a bag of sugar. But it only uses about as much power as one small light bulb! With that tiny bit of energy, it can think, remember, dream, and even wonder about the stars. No computer that people have ever built can do all that.
Talking Across the Gap
Brain cells, called neurons, don't quite touch each other. There's a tiny gap between them called a synapse (say it: SIH-naps). To send a message, one cell tosses out little chemical "balls." The next cell has to have exactly the right "hoops" waiting to catch them. If the balls and the hoops didn't match up perfectly from the very start, no message could ever get through.
Keeping Everything Just Right
Your brain also sends chemicals to keep your whole body balanced, kind of like a thermostat. Too little of one chemical, and you get very sick. Too much, and you get sick too! A system like this needs a goal, a way to check if things are on track, and a way to fix them when they're off. That takes planning — not luck.
All the Pieces, All at Once
Here's the surprising part: none of these pieces work alone. The message-senders need the right message-catchers waiting for them. The feedback systems need a sender and a checker, ready together. A doctor who has studied brains for over 40 years says this could never happen bit by bit, by accident — because every piece needs all the other pieces just to work at all.
Why This Points to God
- ✓Too well-matched to be an accident. Every message-sender needs its own matching receiver, working together right from the start. That kind of matching only happens when someone plans it — pointing to a wise Designer.
- ✓Made like nothing else on Earth. The Bible says people alone were made "in God's image" (Genesis 1:27). Our brains can think about the past, imagine the future, and wonder about God — something no animal does. That matches exactly what the Bible says makes us different.
- ✓Made for love, not by luck. God didn't have to give us brains that can love, hope, and connect with Him. He gave us these gifts because He wanted to know us — and to be known by us.
"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things."
